Thank you to everyone who joined us at Coburg town hall on Saturday night as we launched this historic campaign to turn Wills Greens at the next election 💚
This campaign is being fuelled by an unwavering determination to change politics for the better so that we can better protect people in our community and the planet for the future.
Hundreds of people have signed up to get involved here, and we’ve knocked on over 10,000 doors already! This is just the beginning, and I’m so excited to keep working hard on this campaign with all of you. Each conversation we have with our neighbours is an opportunity to hear about how people are going and what they would like us to do to help. Each doorknocker now carries with them the stories of people in our community. With that, each of us carries the power to change a system that too often puts profits before our wellbeing and vested interests above our lives.
That power is in this connection with people at a time when so much of life works against us building a sense of community with each other.
That power filled the Coburg town hall with hope on Saturday.
It was incredible to hear from Adam Bandt, along with Mai Saif from Free Palestine Melbourne. A huge thank you to Mai & the FPM movement for their generous endorsement of our campaign here. A big shout out also to our fantastic hosts Simba Mak & Tim Read MP, along with Jason Heerah for a stunning performance on the night! Our community here is talented, powerful, and on the march.
Not only can we create change right here in Wills – but we have to. For every young person that deserves a planet that they can survive on. For every renter who feels like they can never afford a home. For every public housing resident who is facing eviction by governments. For every family making the impossible choice between putting food on the table or paying their bills. For every person seeking asylum fleeing for their lives. For every Palestinian struggling for survival and liberation.
Let’s win hearts and change minds.
A huge thank you to everyone who made the event possible, especially every single volunteer who gave their time on the night to host and welcome others.
Together, we are so powerful! Let’s win Wills ✊🏾
