Decades of underfunding have left public schools struggling to meet the needs of their students while elite private schools enjoy taxpayer-funded luxuries.
Public schools in Wills have been chronically underfunded for decades. Schools like Glenroy and John Fawkner Colleges have been underfunded by an estimated $4,000 per student per year.
Unlike Labor and the Liberals, who have failed to address the growing inequity in education, the Greens are committed to fully funding public schools.
We’re fighting to fully-fund schools to 100% of the school resourcing standard by 2026. We are also pushing for millions in additional funding for critical infrastructure for local schools so they have shaded outdoor areas, safe buildings and more.
Samantha & the Greens will:
- Deliver 100% school funding so every student can have a great public education
- Free school lunches for every Public School child
- Make childcare genuinely free
- Establish a capital grants fund to give public school kids the facilities they deserve
- $800 back-to-school payments to help with out-of-pocket costs
