Our Plan
The Greens’ plan will address the cost of living, housing and climate crises. Our plan will help people now, and set us on a pathway to a brighter future for all of us.
Our policy platform is bold, comprehensive and independently costed. We are fighting for a future where we make big corporations pay their fair share of tax and fund the things that everyone needs.
All of this is possible. The first step is voting for someone who will fight for you and the things you believe in.

Make Big Corporations Pay Their Fair Share
Big Corporations are pushing up prices and raking in record profits while everyday people pay more and work harder than ever to get by. Instead of holding them to account, Labor and the Liberals take millions in donations from the very corporations driving up prices.
The Greens plan:
- A 40% tax on excess profits for big corporations with over $100 million in turnover.
- A 10% tax on the net wealth of Australian’s 150 billionaires.
- Stop big oil & gas corporations paying $0 in tax by closing loopholes and raising royalties so Australia gets its fair share of tax from resources owned by the public
- Ban supermarket price-gouging to make food cheaper
- Tackle multinational tax avoidance

No More Coal & Gas, Invest In Clean Energy & Protect Our Environment
To keep people safe, we need to take real climate action by stopping new coal and gas, and investing in our communities so that everyone can withstand the climate crisis.
Instead of working for you, Labor and the Liberals are
taking millions in donations from coal, oil and gas
corporations.
Last time there was a minority government, the Greens secured world leading climate laws. This is our chance to do it again.
The Greens plan:
- Stop new coal and gas
- More support for everyone – renters, apartment dwellers, home owners & businesses – for rooftop solar and storage
- Expand publicly-owned renewable energy
- End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations
- Build a national EV charging network
- Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable clean energy
- Create thousands of jobs during the transition

Fix the housing crisis; freeze and cap rents, build affordable homes
IYou shouldn’t be stressed by your mortgage or your rent. You deserve to own a home or have affordable rent until you do. We are in a severe housing crisis in this country. While you work harder, big banks and wealthy property investors are making massive profits. The Housing system is not just broken, it’s rigged against renters and first home buyers.
The Greens will:
- Cap rent increases – make unlimited rent increases illegal with strong limits on how much rents can rise
- Build homes people can actually afford through a new Public Property Developer
- Bring down mortgages – regulate the banks to deliver fairer, lower mortgages
- Create a new National Renters Protection Authority to enforce renters’ rights
- End tax handouts for property investors with more than 2 properties
- Double the funding for homelessness services and public housing
- Stop Labor and the Liberal’s demolition and privatisation of public housing

Dental and mental health into Medicare, stop the crisis in our public hospitals, strong NDIS
The last time there was a minority government, Adam and the Greens got dental into Medicare for kids. This time we want to get dental and mental health into Medicare for everyone.
The Greens plan:
- See the GP for Free
- Make mental health sessions unlimited on Medicare
- Build 1000 new free public healthcare clinics with a GP, dentist, nurse or psychologist
- Cover Autism and ADHD diagnosis under Medicare
While the major parties have both cut billions in funding from the NDIS, only the Greens are fighting for a fully funded NDIS and will reverse Labor and Liberals cuts.
The Greens plan:
- Fully fund the NDIS, reversing Labor and the Liberals cuts
- Introduce a dedicated disability pride week
- Establish a fund for disabled people to inclusively participate in elections
- Establish a Federal Disability Minister and a Department of Disability Services
- Ensure disabled people are at the centre of decision making, policy and planning

Free education for life
Education is too expensive. From early childhood, through to school, TAFE & university, education should be free, no matter who you are. We’ve had it before and we can do it again. The Greens want to ensure everyone can access world-class education from early childhood, through school to TAFE and Uni.
The Greens plan:
- Scrap all student debt
- Free university & TAFE for all
- Free early education and care for all children
- Ensure we have fully funded public schools that meet everyone’s needs
- $800 back to school payments for each child in public schools

Equality for all: freedom from harassment & discrimination
All of us deserve to feel safe and have equal opportunities in life, no matter our background, religion, ability, gender, sexuality, income or postcode. Both the major parties are backing policies that exclude, disadvantage or vilify people just because of who they are. The Greens plan for Equality and Justice for All will help make sure everyone can live a good life.
The Greens plan:
- Strengthening measures to end gender-based violence, protect abortion and close the gender pay gap
- Invest in family violence prevention especially for culturally diverse communities
- Champion, strengthen and protect LGBTIQA+ rights
- Stop the LGBTIQA+ conversion movement and make gender affirming healthcare free under Medicare

Truth, Treaty, Justice for First Nations people
The referendum campaign showed the need for truth-telling and treaty-making to deliver hope, justice and pathways towards healing. The Greens remain committed to the Statement from the Heart in full, and weâll proceed this year with our bill to establish a National Truth and Justice Commission to lay the foundation for Treaty
The Greens are committed to the ongoing fight for transformative change. We are fighting alongside First Nations elders, activists and campaigners to:
- Establish a Truth & Justice Commission
- National, grassroots-led consultation process for Treaty
- Act on deaths in custody
- Enact the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People
- Bring justice to members of the Stolen Generations
- Raise the age and keep kids out of prison

End the invasion of Gaza, end the occupation
For Palestinians and Israelis to both enjoy a just peace and security, and to both have their rights to self-determination under international law, the occupation of Palestine must end. Australia must push for peace, including through sanctions on the extremist Netanyahu government to pressure them to comply with international law.
The Greens are fighting for:
- A lasting and permanent ceasefire
- An end to the genocide and the occupation of the Palestinian territories
- The continued release of hostages and political prisoners
- Immediate stop military exports and end to the two-way arms trade with Israel
- An increase to Australia’s aid budget

Protect the environment and animals
Our environment is in crisis. The Great Barrier Reef is dying, the Murray Darling Basin is collapsing, and our native forests are being torn up. Labor is taking donations from the big corporations driving the crisis and approving more destructive projects. The Greens have a plan to protect the environment and animals.
The Greens plan:
- End native forest logging
- Save koalas and our wildlife from extinction
- Safeguard our precious water resources
- Stronger environmental laws
- Fund First Nations people caring for Country
- Save the Great Barrier Reef
- Ban live exports

Tackle poverty & inequality; lift jobseeker, youth allowance and the pension
Too many people live in poverty in this country and inequality is spiralling out of control. Leaving people to struggle is an active political choice; it doesn’t need to be this way. We could prioritise delivering a stronger safety net for everyone, so that no one is left behind.
The Greens plan:
- Establish a Poverty and Inequality Commission to eradicate poverty
- Lift all income supports so that no one has to live in poverty
- Lower the pension age back to 65
- Abolish punishments in our social security system

Justice for refugees & asylum seekers, support migrants and multiculturalism
Everyone should be able to live without fear of racial violence or discrimination in our multicultural society. Too often Australia’s leaders have fuelled racism and anti-immigrant sentiment and people seeking asylum have been the subject of cruel treatment by both the Labor and Liberal parties. This needs to stop.
The Greens plan actively tackles racism, provides stronger protections and aims to treat people with the respect and dignity they deserve.
The Greens plan:
- A national anti-racism strategy
- Establish a Federal Multicultural Commission to embrace cultural and religious diversity
- End offshore detention and support refugees and people seeking asylum
- Abolish temporary protection visas and reintroduce permanent protection
- Increase Australia’s humanitarian intake per year
- Faster, fairer, and more affordable family reunion visa system that actually reunites families

Create well-paid secure jobs, defend your rights at work
Everyone deserves a secure job, with good pay, but wages are too low and not keeping up with the cost of living. Too many people are unable to keep their head above water. The Greens will put people at the heart of workplace reforms and create a future where everyone has the time, stability and security they need to thrive.
The Greens plan:
- End insecure work
- Raise the minimum wage
- Give workers more power to win pay rises
- Close the gender pay gap
- The Greens just secured laws to ensure you have the Right to Disconnect outside work hours
