Our Plan for wills
The Greens’ plan will address the cost of living, housing and climate crises. Our plan will help people now, and set us on a pathway to a brighter future for all of us.
Our policy platform is bold, comprehensive and independently costed. We are fighting for a future where we make big corporations pay their fair share of tax and fund the things that everyone needs, across the country and right here in Wills.
All of this is possible. The first step is voting for someone who will fight for you and the things you believe in.ย
OUR WILLS COMMUNITY
Our community includes the suburbs of Glenroy, Hadfield, Fawkner, Oak Park, Coburg, Coburg North, Pascoe Vale, Pascoe Vale South, Brunswick, Brunswick West, Brunswick East, Princess Hill, Carlton North and Fitzroy North.
Wills exists on Wurundjeri land and the spirit of First Nations custodianship inspires a strong connection to the land. Post-war migrants from Italy and Greece built the multicultural fabric of our local community and have been joined by thousands from countries all across the globe.
From students and young renters, to growing families, and others beginning the next chapters of their lives, our community has a long history of welcoming everyone.
Now we are on the cusp of our communityโs next chapter.
If 1 in 10 people change their vote, Wills can go Greens at this election.

1 in 3 big corporations pay $0 tax
We’ll fund the things you need, by making big corporations pay their fair share.
Big corporations are pushing up prices and raking in record profits while everyday people pay more and work harder than ever to get by. Instead of holding them to account, Labor & the Liberals take millions in donations from the very corporations driving up prices.
We’ll raise over $514 billion of revenue by:
- A 40% tax on excess profits for big corporations with over $100 million in turnover
- A 10% tax on the net wealth of Australian’s 150 billionaires
- Stop big oil & gas corporations paying $0 in tax by closing loopholes and raising royalties so Australia gets its fair share of tax from resources owned by the public
- Tackle multinational tax avoidance

Your vote could get dental into Medicare for Everyone
The last time there was a minority government, the Greens got dental into Medicare for kids. This time, we want to get dental and mental health into Medicare for everyone.
Universal Healthcare
Our plan for Wills:
- See the GP for free
- Build 1,000 new public healthcare clinics where you can see a GP, dentist, nurse, or psychologist at no cost, including 6 right here in Wills
- Make mental healthcare free with unlimited sessions
- Helping people access the quality aged care services they need
Defend and extend the NDIS
The major parties have both cut billions in funding from the NDIS, only the Greens are fighting for a fully funded NDIS.
The Greens plan:
- Fully fund the NDIS, reversing Labor’s cuts
- Cover autism and ADHD diagnosis under Medicare

Our once in a generation opportunity for strong action on climate
Deadly heatwaves, extreme fires and record floods are being fuelled by the burning of coal, oil and gas. Yet both of the major parties are backing even more.
A safe climate future means no more coal and gas
Instead of working for you, Labor and the Liberals are taking millions in donations from coal, oil and gas corporations.
Last time there was a minority government, the Greens secured world leading climate laws. This is our chance to do it again.
Samantha and the Greens plan:
- Stop new coal and gas
- Expand publicly-owned renewable energy
- End the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations
- Lower power bills by transitioning to more reliable clean energy
- Create thousands of jobs during the transition
- Invest in publicly-owned EV fast chargers across our suburbs

50 cent public transport fares, more frequent and accessible trains, trams & buses
Making Wills more liveable
We’re all spending too much on expensive public transport, for a service that is too slow, too unreliable and inaccessible for many in Brunswick, Coburg, Pascoe Vale, Glenroy and Hadfield.
Our plan:
- Introduce 50c public transport fares, like they have in QLD, saving you $2,400 per year
- Improve safety and accessibility on Sydney Road with accessible tram stops and protected bike routes
- Duplicate the Upfield train line, so trains can run every 10 minutes

Truth, Treaty, Justice for First Nations people
The referendum campaign clearly showed that there is a compelling case for truth-telling and treaty-making to deliver hope, justice and pathways towards healing. The Greens will establish a National Truth and Justice Commission to acknowledge and document historic and ongoing injustices experienced by First Nations peoples.
The Greens are committed to the ongoing fight for transformative change. We are fighting alongside First Nations elders, activists and campaigners to:
- Establish a Truth & Justice Commission
- National, grassroots-led consultation process for Treaty
- Act on deaths in custody
- Enact the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People
- Bring justice to members of the Stolen Generations
- Raise the age and keep kids out of prison

Tackle poverty & inequality; lift jobseeker, youth allowance and the pension
Too many people live in poverty in this country and inequality is spiralling out of control. Leaving people to struggle is an active political choice; it doesn’t need to be this way. We could prioritise delivering a stronger safety net for everyone, so that no one is left behind.
The Greens plan:
- Establish a Poverty and Inequality Commission to eradicate poverty
- Lift all income supports so that no one has to live in poverty
- Lower the pension age back to 65
- Abolish punishments in our social security system

Protect the environment and animals
Our environment is in crisis. The Great Barrier Reef is dying, the Murray Darling Basin is collapsing, and our native forests are being torn up. Labor is taking donations from the big corporations driving the crisis and approving more destructive projects.
Only the Greens can be trusted to deliver what nature needs.
To protect our environment and save our wildlife, we must restore our landscape, protect our native forests, and clean up our rivers.
The Greens plan:
- End Native Forest Logging
- Protect our precious water resources
- Make emissions accounting more transparent
- Save koalas & wildlife from extinction
- Ensure the health of the Merri and Moonee Ponds Creeks
- Protect our marine ecosystems

Our plan to bring down the Cost of Living
- Ban supermarket price-gouging to make food cheaper
- Bring back free GP visits
- Put dental and mental health into Medicare, so you can fix your teeth for free
- Regulate the banks to stop price-gouging on mortgages
- Wipe all student debt, saving an average $5,500 in your pocket a year
- 50 cent public transport fares, like they have in Queensland
- Bring essential services back into public hands so they work for people, not profits
No poverty in a wealthy country
The Greens are the only party that has consistently voted to lift income support payments above the poverty line, and have pushed for reducing the pension age to 65.

The Greens are fighting for renters, first home buyers & stressed mortgage holders
If you’re struggling with your rent or mortgage, you’re not alone. We are in a severe housing crisis in this country. While you work harder, big banks and wealthy property investors are making massive profits. The system is not just broken. It’s rigged against you.
Our plan to tackle the housing crisis
- Make unlimited rent increases illegal – a 2 year freeze on rents and then long-term rent caps
- Bring down mortgage costs: regulate the banks to deliver fairer, discounted mortgages
- End unfair tax handouts for wealthy property investors with more than 2 properties, including negative gearing (it’s stopping renters buying their first home)
- Build more public homes with a new Public Property Developer, starting with the Coburg revitalisation project
- Create a new National Renters Protection Authority to enforce renters’ rights
- Double the funding for homelessness services & public housing
- Stop Labor and the Liberals’ privatisation of public housing
THE GREENS HAVE ALREADY SECURED $3.5 BILLION FOR PUBLIC & COMMUNITY HOUSING
We can build high quality public homes right here in Coburg
The Greens Public Developer could build 224 genuinely affordable, high quality apartments right here in Coburg, on publicly owned sites.

Restore free education
Scrap all student debt
Our community has some of the highest student debt in the country. Pressure from the Greens has already secured a 20% cut to your student debt. We’ll scrap all student debt and bring back free university & TAFE for all.
Free childcare for every family
Samantha and the Greens plan:
- Free early education and care for all children
- Reduce barriers by abolishing the childcare subsidy activity test
Fully fund public schools
Public schools in Wills have been chronically underfunded for decades. Schools like Glenroy and John Fawkner Colleges have been underfunded by an estimated $4000 per student per year.
The Greens have a plan to fully-fund schools to 100% of the school resourcing standard by 2026.
We are also pushing for millions in additional funding for critical infrastructure for local schools so they have shaded outdoor areas, safe buildings and more.
THE GREENS’ PLAN WOULD SEE AN EXTRA ESTIMATED $30 MILLION TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN WILLS.

End the occupation, Free Palestine
No civilian should be the target of the violence of war. We condemn the killings of civilians in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and Israel. For there to be peace there must be an end to the State of Israel’s illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories and its ongoing genocide in Gaza. Australia must impose sanctions on Israel and end the two way arms trade.
The Greens are fighting for:
- A lasting and permanent ceasefire
- An end to the genocide and the occupation of the Palestinian territories
- The continued release of hostages and political prisoners
- Immediate stop military exports and end to the two-way arms trade with Israel
- An increase to Australia’s aid budget

Equality for all: freedom from harassment & discrimination
All of us deserve to feel safe and have equal opportunities in life, no matter our background, religion, ability, gender, sexuality, income or postcode. Both the major parties are backing policies that exclude, disadvantage or vilify people just because of who they are. The Greens plan for Equality and Justice for All will help make sure everyone can live a good life.
The Greens plan:
- Strengthening measures to end gender-based violence, protect abortion and close the gender pay gap
- Invest in family violence prevention especially for culturally diverse communities
- Champion, strengthen and protect LGBTIQA+ rights
- Stop the LGBTIQA+ conversion movement and make gender affirming healthcare free under Medicare

Create well-paid secure jobs, defend your rights at work
Everyone deserves a secure job, with good pay, but wages are too low and not keeping up with the cost of living. Too many people are unable to keep their head above water. The Greens will put people at the heart of workplace reforms and create a future where everyone has the time, stability and security they need to thrive.
The Greens plan:
- End insecure work
- Raise the minimum wage
- Give workers more power to win pay rises
- Close the gender pay gap
- The Greens just secured laws to ensure you have the Right to Disconnect outside work hours

Justice for refugees & asylum seekers, support migrants and multiculturalism
Everyone should be able to live without fear of racial violence or discrimination in our multicultural society. Too often Australia’s leaders have fuelled racism and anti-immigrant sentiment and people seeking asylum have been the subject of cruel treatment by both the Labor and Liberal parties. This needs to stop.
The Greens plan actively tackles racism, provides stronger protections and aims to treat people with the respect and dignity they deserve.
The Greens plan:
- A national anti-racism strategy
- Establish a Federal Multicultural Commission to embrace cultural and religious diversity
- End offshore detention and support refugees and people seeking asylum
- Abolish temporary protection visas and reintroduce permanent protection
- Increase Australia’s humanitarian intake per year
- Faster, fairer, and more affordable family reunion visa system that actually reunites families
